Thursday, 9/29 - CONFIRMED SIGHTING, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SATURDAY

Molly was spotted this past weekend at Bellaire Blvd. at Newcastle and on the tracks N. of Little Woodrow's (this was confirmed today by Bonnie Hale's search dog) View Map

We are organizing a search party/volunteer event on Saturday from 9:30 to noon. We need volunteers to:

  • Hand out flyers door-to-door
  • Hold up posters on sticks at intersections in the area to draw attention (like the pizza people who wave signs at you!)
  • Put up posters
  • Find Molly!
I have asked the Methodist Church on the corner of Bellaire and Newcastle if we can use their parking lot. Details about the meeting place will follow tomorrow.

Please bring:

  • Water
  • Staple gun of you have one
  • Packing tape if you have it (clear only please)
If anyone is willing to work on getting water, pizza, kolaches, donuts, a folding banquet table, tape, staple guns, t-shirts with www.FindMolly.info on them, etc. loaned or donated to the event, please e-mail or call as soon as you can!
Wednesday, 9/28 - MEDIA AND OTHER UPDATES

Molly was scheduled to be featured on the Houston Fox morning show today. If there's a video clip it'll be posted here ASAP.

At 2:00 I have an appointment with Sonya Fitzpatrick, the Animal Planet pet communicator.

At 5:00, lost pet specialist Bonnie Hale will arrive with her search dog, Murphy and we'll start searching at the crack of dawn the following morning.

Scan tomorrow to assess progress of chemo and Proton Beam Therapy. Four more sessions of Proton and one more chemo unless more is prescribed.

Please hold good thoughts and pray that we find Molly!

Saturday 9/24 - SEARCH PARTY

Some people have offered to search today. I have at the ready....

  • bottled water,
  • 8 packets of stinky cat food,
  • 4 rolls of tape,
  • one industrial stapler for phone poles, and
  • amazing new 18 x12 posters, as well as 8 1/2 x 11 posters, thanks to Friends of BARC!
If you want to participate, please e-mail or call. I will be off e-mail by about 10:30 am; so you can text or call after that to get in on the fun!

Saturday, 9/24 - OTHER ASSISTANCE NEEDED

There are other things that we could use some assistance with, if you can spare the time or energy:

  • We need folks to put up posters at Petsmarts, PetCo's and any other pet places here. Download the poster.
  • Posters in your favorite haunts would be appreciated. This includes grocery stores, vets offices, other offices and work places, libraries, coffeehouses, restaurants, and on poles in your neighborhood. We especially need help posting in parks, on jogging trails, and on the bayous. Please be willing to remove them when she is found.
  • Someone suggested that we put a free lost pet ad in community papers. If anyone can assist with this, we would be most appreciative....especially since we don't really know the area at all.
  • If anyone is willing to do shelter searches, please let me know so I can coordinate efforts and schedules. Jeff and I are finding it taxing to search every 72 hours, search for Molly in the neighborhood daily, and attend cancer treatments. We can, and will, continue to do it; but, if any of you are already there, please let me know if you can search while you are there. The list includes BARC, Harris County, SPCA, Houston Humane Society. If there are others we should be searching, please let me know.
  • If anyone has a contact at the Houston Chronicle who might write an article on Molly, please let me know.
  • People to check the Found Pets sites online to see if they match Molly's description.

Saturday 9/24 - CANCER UPDATE

Since a lot of people ask about this I will include it. I have cancer at the bottom of my esophagus and top of my stomach. It was caused by years of acid reflux. (No, I did not know acid reflux could cause cancer!) It is Stage 3, which is not great; but I am hoping to live a long time despite the rather grim statistics! (People with acid reflux should take preventative medicine and be monitored through regular endoscopies to avoid this situation, FYI.)

I am blessed to be receiving the very best of care from the people at the MD Anderson Proton Center! I have had 21 of 28 treatments and am doing really well. Proton rocks!

I had my 10th round of chemo on Tuesday. For me, it's not as bad as people say; but, the steroids they give me with the infusions (because I am allergic to a preservative in one of the drugs) make me feel like I could lift a bus for the next few days. Then I feel like I was hit by the bus for the following few days. I entered the "hit by the bus phase" today. I slept all day. If you talked to me today by phone, I hope this explains the grogginess!

We will know the results of the treatment in a few months. I am trying to avoid a nasty surgery where they remove parts that I particularly like and want to keep...for instance my esophagus and upper stomach. I love them and want to keep them, plus having them makes eating so much easier! (Yes, I have a dry sense of humor:-)

PRAYERS/GOOD THOUGHTS, etc. Please pray that:

  • We find Molly!
  • My tumor responds 100% to the treatment and stays in remission for the rest of my days.
  • Please also include Jeff in your prayers...a wife with cancer and a lost precious dog is a bit much for him to come to terms with. :-(

Tuesday, 9/21 - SIGHTING

Some young people called at 10:00 pm reporting that they say a three-legged, or limping four-legged dog, with a halter, was spotted just east of the tracks at Craighead and Willowbend. We are not sure that this was Molly; but looked for the dog for several hours hoping to get it some care. Unfortunately, we were not successful. Molly had a blue collar, not a halter.

Monday, 9/20 or Tuesday 9/21 - SIGHTING

A woman who walks her dogs by the woods at the end of Cliffwood saw tracks along the fence line by the Behren school, that looked like they might be from a three legged dog and she thought that it might be Molly.

Beloved 3-Legged Service Dog Vanishes on 9/11: MyFoxHOUSTON.com

Saturday, 9/17 - SIGHTING

A woman saw a dog, possibly Molly, running like "demons were chasing her" down Cliffwood in the 10800 block headed toward the woods during the thunder and lightening. (That definitely sounds like Molly!) It thundered and lighteninged all weekend.

Wednesday, 9/14 or Thursday 9/15 - SIGHTING

We just met a very observant 10 year old and her mother. The 10 year old noticed a dog that looks like Molly, missing her back right leg, being walked by a man at Cliffwood and Hummingbird last Wednesday or Thursday. The man was headed North on Cliffwood, had dark hair, was Anglo, medium height, medium build, and wearing basketball shorts. The dog had a leash on that was either blue or black. This kid could be a pet detective...she is so smart!

Tuesday, 9/13 - SIGHTING

A lady saw a dog meeting Molly's description sniffing around yards a block South of Willowbend on Cliffwood. The lady left town and told us this on Saturday, 9/17.
